The Education Lab conducted a study that demonstrates individualized, intensive (or “high-dosage”) tutoring can double or triple the amount of math high school students learn each year, increase student grades, and reduce math and non-math course failures. The findings, which are the result of an intervention developed by the non-profit organization Saga Education, come as school districts across America grapple with the pandemic’s academic fallout, including significant learning loss among students and the acceleration of pre-existing educational disparities.

In the United States, there is enormous potential to close longstanding opportunity gaps through the scale-up of evidence-based programs. We are grateful for organizations like J-PAL North America and the University of Chicago Urban Education Labs for helping us to understand our impact.

Inside each of us lives a story waiting to unfold. Some are born with an open road ahead. Others with twists and turns. Though our stories start in different places, each of us can help steer where our stories go.

Saga proudly serves 18 high schools in Chicago, including the brand new Englewood STEM High (ESHS), which opened this fall with an inaugural freshman class of over 400 students. The high school is located in the heart of the Englewood Community and is a beautiful multimillion dollar state of the art facility. The school will specialize in science, technology, engineering and math, which aligns with Saga’s area of focus.

Looking back on the academic year and ahead to the future, there is much to celebrate at Saga Education. We have continued to grow as a trusted, national leader in personalized learning for students. Research and data from the University of Chicago Urban Education labs has validated our impact. We re-imagined our look, messaging, and digital channels with a bold new brand.
