This week, we celebrate the fourth annual BLM at School week, kicking off Black History Month. This week of action is dedicated to bringing in the values of the Black Lives Matter movement into our schools, broadly focused on improving the educational experience of students of color.
In late January/early February, Saga will begin our pilot of three new adaptive practice platforms with 1,000 students across Saga’s current partner cities. Saga hired an Instructional Technology Manager over the summer to research various online math platforms and conduct a full analysis of viable options by the early winter.
Dr. King recognized the power of service. He famously said, “Everyone can be great because everybody can serve”. Several fellows shared why they serve with Saga Education and what a service year means to them. We are so inspired by our fellows who dedicate a year, and in some cases several years to serve their communities and fight educational inequities! Thank you, fellows, for your ongoing commitment and greatness today, and every day.
Prior to the pandemic, due in part to Saga’s 2019 pilot of an online SAT tutoring program with College Board, our team was thinking of ways to successfully adapt our program to meet the needs of remote learning. This gave us the ability to continue providing personalized tutoring to our students during school closures and has since made Saga a leader in the work of finding a solution to diminish the impacts of COVID-driven learning loss.
Saga Education, a nonprofit that pairs mathematics tutors and technology to serve students in high-need schools, has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious 2020 list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.
